As the poster announces from the outset, there will be four rather than three days on the programme!
On Thursday 6 September, participants will meet up in Haute-Marne! Yes, the 48 Hours will be visiting another département for the first time. After a visit to the poster museum, the participants on this optional day set off on a rally through the Aube to arrive in Troyes. In the evening, the now traditional ascent of Montgueux by the light of the yellow headlights is repeated.
Friday sees the “official” start of the 2018 48 Heures Automobiles de Troyes. The starting point is once again in the Haute-Marne at Colombey les deux églises, home of General de Gaulle. Two rallies, one passing through Dienville and the other through Essoyes, take the participants back to the Mc Arthur Glen factory outlet centre before some of them enjoy a VIP evening at the Cube.
Saturday sees a more conventional programme. There will be 4 rallies, departing from Troyes and St Julien les Villas. The first two will take in the south of the department and the Champagne vineyards, one to Essoyes and the other to Les Riceys. A third will take the vintage cars, accompanied of course by Harley bikers, to the Pays d’Othe and Ervy le Chatel, while the last will head east to Soulaines d’Huys. Finally, there is the much-appreciated gathering of visitors on the Boulevard Jules Guesde in the shade of the trees.
Sunday takes place in a new area. No Boulevard Gambetta for the 2018 48 Heures Automobiles de Troyes, but head for the north-east of the Champagne cork with the Mail des Charmilles. The cars will be parked along the entire length of the mall, while one lane will be left free for a few drives with the cars.
The concours d’élégance cars can also be seen in the courtyard of the design school before they go before the jury.
